The idea of this cake was suggested by Birthday girl’s Mom, who has seen it on pinkcakebox.com
Leopard spots are hand painted with food colors on fondant which was great fun!
Bows are made of gumpaste and dried thoroughly before attaching to the cake.

The device displayed on the cake called “The Muletto” is a unique invention that is truly appreciated by many homeowners and gardeners. The “Muletto” model is made of gumpaste and fondant. The cake was created to celebrate the birthday of the inventor of this fabulous machine. To find out more about the Muletto visit its website www.themuletto.com
The cake itself is lemon sponge with lemon curd filling.

The Shark Cake

The Shark Cake

The Shark Cake

This was a birthday cake for a boy who really likes… Can you guess? Yes, SHARKS! Even though sculpted cake seems a little intimidating, it wasn’t all that hard to do. Of course midway through the process, after stacking chopped layers of chocolate sponge cake with generous amounts of peanut butter cream it looked like an unbelievable mess. But cutting it to rough shape of shark head and smoothing buttercream all over really improved it’s appearance. And airbrushing fondant (and everything else within 3 ft.) was a pure delight!

Water around the cake on the photo is a Photoshop trick of course.

Toronto Maple Leafs Birthday Cake

Ok, may be the blue was a little lighter than true Leafs Jersey, but I didn’t realize it until I started attaching decorations. But it was bright and cheerful blue shade, so maybe in the future Leafs would consider changing their deep royal blue logo closer to my color.

Ballet Slippers and Tiara Cake

Ballet Slippers and Tiara Cake

In this cake the biggest challenge was slippers, not tiara as I thought before I started making it. Tiara just needed good 4 days to dry without being disturbed and it was so solid, you could wear it. It’s edible of course. Slippers were another story. I had to make them twice, because the first pair cracked. Fortunately there was enough time to make a second pair and those were better structured and stronger. Over all it was fun and pretty.

Casino Cake

Casino Cake

After finishing this cake I felt like it would be easier to win at the casino than make it again.
The major challenge was that it had to be a sfoglia (millefeuille) cake inside and had to be fancy and decorated for a big 50th birthday. So here is how it looked from the outside and according to the family that requested it the inside turned out good too.
